The deck expansion joint (where the pool body meets the concrete) also requires immediate attention! If you walk around the perimeter of the pool, you will see quite large ‘gaps and cracks’ between the pools edge and the concrete. The existing deck joint is all split and deteriorating after many years of wear and tear.

This work is required under Australian Standards AS2610.1 which states:

“Walking, coping, ramps and similar surfaces shall be slip resistant and shall not have any roughness or irregularity that will cause any injury or discomfort under normal use.

Outlet covers; drains, expansion joint edges, trenching and subsidence shall be designed or located so as to minimize a tripping or stubbing hazard to feet”

“Operation of a pool in a manor contrary to the provision of the legislation is an offence and the owner is liable to the prosecution for non-compliance. Likewise damages may be claimed by a user should infection or injury occur as a result of improper operation.”
